Self-Esteem and Motivation
Our gaming and capacity building programs nurture self-esteem by introducing healthy competition, celebrating successes, providing constructive feedback and boosting motivation to overcome challenges in both online and IRL scenarios.
Mental and Emotional Wellbeing
CRANK’s programs provide a supportive environment for CREW to take mental and emotional wellbeing seriously.
With your COACH, you’ll learn coping strategies, stress management, and emotional regulation techniques, which all of us need in our lives.
Communication and Self-Advocacy
Learning how to communicate clearly and stand up for yourself are big parts of becoming independent. If you can’t say what you need to, how can others know? We’ll coach you on communicating clearly, listening well and advocating for yourself. This provides you with the tools needed to handle tricky situations in work, study or life.
Nutrition and Physical Health
In addition to the fun stuff, you’ll explore good nutrition, exercise and healthy habits. Gaining knowledge and confidence to make better lifestyle choices is key to better physical wellbeing.
Domestic Duties
Living in a house means you have responsibilities, to both yourself and to those around you. Being a part of our social and competitive gaming programs can help with practical life skills such as organisation, time management and learning how to manage and stay on top of your daily routine.
Our STA programs are also a great way to develop these skills!
Confident, Fun Cooking
We get it – takeaway and fast food are quick and easy, which is handy when you’re busy doing something you love… but striking a balance between having fun and healthy eating is important!
Finding joy in healthy food means you can get back to your passions with even more energy.
Holidays and Transport
Going to new places can be great fun but it often means figuring out transport logistics. Even if it’s as simple as joining you on a commute, a COACH helps you gain confidence and understanding about travel options – supporting future independent explorations of new places.
Safety, Legal Rights, and Responsibilities
It can be a bit boring to some, but it’s important! And you really need to learn where you stand. All our CREW learn about personal safety, legal rights and responsibilities – getting savvy about issues such as personal boundaries, online safety and their rights in various life situations.
NDIS Plan and Financial Management
Understanding your NDIS plan is important so you can get the most out of it. Our team know about as much as there is to know about NDIS stuff, and help CREW navigate their budgets, plans, options and cycles.
Government and Community Services Assistance
The National Disability Insurance Scheme is just one part of government support in Australia. We guide our CREW through their options for accessing various government and community services to address their individual needs.
This may include working with DES providers to help you secure employment while you’re studying or at CRANK.
Accommodation Options and Tenancy Rights
More independence often means a change in living circumstances. If this is you, we can help you understand more about accommodation options and tenancy rights and responsibilities, preparing you for independent living.
