Magic: The Gathering

If you love using your mind and running through the calculations to ‘big brain’ your opponents, Magic: The Gathering could be your sweet spot.

Described by some as a mix of Poker and Chess, it’s a collectible trading card game where you summon creatures, cast spells and outsmart your opponents.

Why We Love It

Magic: The Gathering is a strategic game with a high ceiling for complexity, which makes it very rewarding. For neurodiverse players, it provides a great way to express one’s unique self through the cards via deckbuilding.

Players need to carefully consider their deck construction and their in-game plays in order to win. The game has serious longevity, with new cards and sets being released regularly – supporting both one-on-one and group matches.

How We Coach It

Gameplay in Magic: The Gathering balances strategy against unpredictable plays.

Our coaches help new players identify the different types of cards and the different types of actions they can perform in the game. As players progress, we help them develop strategies and skills – while learning how to spot and avoid bluffs.

It’s a great game for connecting with other players – and big enough for different personalities to find their place in the game.

Setting Action Plans: Our COACHES facilitate discussions where players can set action plans based on their reflections. We encourage you to identify specific areas for improvement, set goals and determine actionable steps to enhance gameplay skills and strategies.
